Yesterday we started looking at how Satan can deceive the world through ideologies, etc. Today, I want you to see how he can use everything from academia (to explain away miracles) to delusion (making you believe that it’s ok to compromise) eternal truths. Let’s get to it!
- God didn’t part the Red Sea—this is a mistranslation of the “Sea of Reeds,” and was an occurrence of low tide accompanied by an abundance of red algae;
- Jesus was not born to a virgin, as the primitive notion claims—after all, how can a spirit have sex with a human (forgetting Genesis 6:4)?
- One boy’s lunch did not feed 5,000; rather, his sharing inspired others to share, so the masses were fed by many, not just one; and
- Jesus did not physically rise from the dead, but rose in the “hearts” of his disciples and His deathless spirit continues to live on.
- He encourages us to maintain past habits of reading horoscopes, going to psychics, using tarot cards, listening to vulgar or suggestive music, and reading publications that are anything but uplifting even after we have committed our lives to Christ.
- He uses our Christian freedom to justify abusing gambling, drug and tobacco use, or over-indulgence in alcohol.
- He hides the fact that our time on earth is short and the reason we are here is to glorify God by becoming His hands and feet;
- He hides the fact that God’s commands are not just right, but they are wise—designed to work our long-term self-interest in every area of physical, mental, and spiritual life;
- confusing us into thinking that there is no reason to seek rewards in heaven because of our carnal, unspiritual nature, and continued mistakes;
- He separates us from the Scripture with the busyness of our daily schedules;
- He separates us from our relationships with others so the “loud voice” of the daily demands overshadows the “still, small, and quiet voice” of the Holy Spirit;
- He causes us to separate spirituality from morals and ethics, and compartmentalize areas of life permitting ourselves to think we remain spiritual while we engage in immoral practices in our “non-religious” circles;
- He promotes the magic wand theory called “easy believism,” accompanied by special prayers that will break the patterns of sin and require no further obedience by the individual;
- He makes us feel as if we are alone when we face temptation;
- He hides the fact that suffering dismantles what was not a true faith; and
- He downplays the critical nature of our first and last thoughts of each day.
- That heaven is not a place of learning, exploration, duties, travel, companionship, celebrations, and productive work—it is a “do nothing place” with angels sitting on clouds, and everyone on earth will be welcomed there;
- That two angels don’t support us for each of Satan’s demons and, those same angels don’t record an account of our life and service to the Father; and
- That great pleasure is not received in fasting, prayer, repentance, and giving as He completes our joy and it is made complete through the universal process.
Don’t get robbed by Satan’s capacity to use others to twist our beliefs. Tomorrow I am going to share some thoughts with you about how to remain focused during these mental attacks.
