Confidence in your position

For a period of time I was asked to teach a few courses at our church. Each time a group would cycle through I would see couples step up, accept the teachings and some would apply it. Others just seemed to fade away. One couple in particular was different. They completed the course and lessons, continuously asked for input, but never could seem to understand their position in Christ. After the course they came on multiple occasions asking for guidance. Each time they listened, but never seemed to grasp that God wanted a personal relationship with them, not just answers. Parts of their life are now unraveling because holes in their beliefs persist. I’m not sure they believe God can or would provide everything they needed, despite His promises. I question their faith.

First and foremost Christ teaches that we are NOT to worry! In Matthew 6:25 – 34 we are taught that worrying about our provisions and clothing is something only unbelievers do. We are promised those things. As I have said in the past, worrying illustrates you have doubted God’s ability to meet your needs and keep His word. Honestly, I am afraid to say God isn’t going to do something He said He was. Worry also removes peace. It’s not possible to have both simultaneously. Look at Isaiah 26:3. You (God) will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” The verse did not say: “you’ll have peace during a good economy.” Steadfast means unwavering, unfaltering, unswerving – keeping your mindset the same during good and bad times. To summarize: “If you don’t worry about your needs, God will take care of you and give you peace.”

Second, you must be secure in His promises and act accordingly. God has already provided you with all the power and tools necessary to meet any challenge you face according to Philippians 4:13: “I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses inner strength into me.” (Amplified Bible) That’s proof of your clout, so why would you pray for strength when all the power in the heavens and earth exist inside you already? That is like doubting the wind exists because you cannot see it! Confidently step out and do what God has destined you to do – your personality, physical body and heart are perfect for “such a time as this.” The proof is in Ephesians 2: 10. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Last but not least, if you leave the worry behind, have confidence that you are who God thinks you are, then you will fulfill a master plan and secure an eternal destiny our simple minds cannot even imagine. I know you’ve heard this verse over and over but I am going to share it again because it completes the concept: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28) NEVER, EVER doubt your value, position, or the promises. You ARE the right person at the right time to do the right thing for all of the rest of us in your sphere of influence. Thank God you are here and a part of our family – our eternal family. Live freely and joyously in your position.
