The Universal process

The Universal process

I’m not sure it is possible to make it through life without having to get someplace when it is pouring down rain. As a child I often thought that God was just being mean and trying to spoil my day. As I went to school and learned about the water cycle I understood the need for rain but really saw it as a nuisance at times. As an adult I came to a level of acceptance that there will be rainy days, just like there are sun shiny days. As a grandparent I have learned to look at the rain from a different paradigm. I consider the rain as a constant reminder of how God protects us. Wow, over 60+ years for me to see a truth He modeled for me thousands of times! I see Romans 1:20 so differently, now. Here is what it says in the NLT: “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” Every time it rains, God gives us another life lesson about Himself, His Kingdom principles, and how much He loves us.

I know if you think about it, you will remember a time when your mom or I took you someplace when it was raining. Even if you had your raincoats or jackets on, we would still step out on the porch, open the umbrella, she or I would draw you close to us and then we would try to stay in step as we scurried toward the car. When we opened the door there were brief drops that hit us, but it minimized the damage to our appearance and demeanor (for that day.) Then when we would get to where we were going we would brave the elements again. Together we did pretty well. I think it is safe to say that as you got older and didn’t have the assistance of a partner, you probably got just a bit wetter and perhaps more ill-tempered during this same process.

Life in God’s Kingdom can be compared to these rainy days. We know, as believers, from Romans 8: 27b, 34 that we have at least two people covering us with intercessory prayer. “. . . the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.” and “Christ Jesus . . . is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” You are fortunate to have had a minimum of at least two more regularly covering you in prayer – your mom and dad. I am sure there were many other times that your brothers and sisters prayed for you too. I hope you grasp the power of what has occurred during your life. The Bible says you only need two or more (Matthew 18:20). You are guaranteed the two with Christ and the Holy Spirit. However, you have always been blessed more! The reason I say this is because you are bound by the laws of the universe to experience what I have already experienced – a loss of those who pray for you. I know I felt the difference when my mother graduated and later when dad went home.

Don’t take your “Kingdom covering” for granted – you are safer because of that covering. It is the Kingdom who provides angels to protect, minister and watch over you. As you have moved out from under our roof, I have to ask you this question: Have you found other (spiritual) brothers and sisters to keep your hedge of protection strong, since we are not there with you, day in day out?

Gosh, I wonder how many other life lessons there are about the weather that we’re missing.

Love dad
